Search engines such as Google or Yahoo retrieve lists of web pages that relate to keyword phrases or queries entered by users. Search engines generate these lists by collecting data about websites and storing them in enormous databases. So-called electronic spiders (small software programs) are sent out to read websites, follow links on a website, and record the content in the databases.
To have a maximum number of visitors sent to your website, you must make your website as easy for the spiders to read as possible. There are two main steps in optimizing your website for search engines:
Find out what words and terms customers are using for their queries. Choose keywords that are related to casual games. There are many free keyword tools that will tell you how many times a search term was used in a given time. Choose keywords with reasonable search counts, but not necessarily the ones with the hightest search counts. Why is this? Because strong keywords with higher search counts also mean high competition.
Optimize your site for those keywords
Register your domain name : Choose a name that is easy and specific to your chosen keyword.
Page title, HTML tags, anchor text: Include your keywords in your page title, include them between html tags such as <h1> </h1> and in the text that you see for your internal links.
Content:Also make sure that your keywords show up in your content. This needs some special attention - your keywords should not be more than 10-15% of all your content words.
Make sure that you have rich content for your visitors. Don't duplicate content. In addition, search engines may penalize you if you use your keywords too much.
Metatags:Include your keywords in the meta tags in your header, especially in the description of your site.
Last, but not least....
External Links : Now comes the process of getting your rankings - the more websites link back to your site, the better search engines judge your site. A good way to do this is to post articles in forums including a link to your site, submit your site to directories, use social networking - make your site popular!
